Everything is ready for the relaunch of TwitterBlue. The Twitter subscription will be relaunched in the next few hours (from Monday 12 December), after an unsuccessful attempt due to cases of impersonation and continuous postponements to fine-tune the formula. Elon Musk and his crew seem to have found the square on the price: $8/month for web subscribers or $11/month for in-app subscribers on Apple iOS devices.
A choice that apparently may seem bizarre, but which instead simply hides the will to to recoup the 30% commission charged by Apple on in-app purchases. And this is perhaps what Elon Musk and Tim Cook talked about during the recent visit of the CEO of Twitter to the Apple headquarters.
This time, those who decide to subscribe to Twitter Blue and want to display the “verified” checkmark on their profile must first register a phone number. Changing your “Username, Display Name or Profile Photo” will temporarily uncheck it until your account is re-verified.
In the thread linked to the announcement, Twitter explained that subscribers will have access to a number of featuresincluding the ability to edit tweets, upload 1080p resolution videos and access in reader mode. Also, they will appear fewer ads, along with other benefits. Finally, we must not forget that Twitter does not only provide the classic blue check we are used to, but also gold for companies, gray for government entities and blue for individuals.
