At the beginning of October, Ford, to celebrate the end of his Ford GT’s career, had announced the special edition LM Edition made in only 20 units. Apparently, the house of the blue oval had another surprise in store to offer its customers to close the story of its supercar in the best possible way. In fact, the American automaker has announced the exclusivity Ford GT Mk IV, an extreme and track-only version of its GT. This car will be made in 67 specimens, all built by hand. This number is a reference to the GT Mk IV which starred at Le Mans in 1967.
It will be built at Multimatic’s facility located in Markham, Ontario. The price? Definitely within the reach of a few collectors. In fact, let’s go worth 1.7 million dollars. Those interested can already pre-order it through the Ford website. At the beginning of 2023, the automaker will select the 67 customers who will actually be able to buy this exclusive car. Deliveries will start in spring 2023.
BORN FOR THE TRACK
To create this car that Ford defines as its most extreme track car ever, the house of the blue oval has completely revised its GT, redesigning aerodynamics.
Looking at the images shared by Ford, we can actually see the great work being done in this area. For example, the striking new rear wing and the large front splitter stand out. Unfortunately, the American manufacturer did not want to reveal many details of its new supercar. Therefore, we do not know the downforce values obtained thanks to this aerodynamic configuration.
Obviously, to contain the overall weight (not communicated), the American brand has done so extensive use of carbon fiber. Compared to the Ford GT, the wheelbase has been slightly lengthened. As for the engine, Ford just let it be known that they got his V6 EcoBoost biturbo with 3.5 liter displacement which has been specially revised (the engine capacity should have been increased but the exact details of the changes have not been communicated) to arrive at delivering over 800 HP of power.
The performances have not been communicated but it is easily imaginable that this supercar has burning accelerations.
