Smartphones are often used for purposes that would require a minimum amount of electricity which is wasted due to increasingly large, defined, bright and high refresh rate displays. Starting from this assumption, the Chinese company Dasung presented an interesting accessory to be combined with the smartphone, precisely to save the battery (and extend the life of the device), by connecting with or without wires and providing a electronic ink panel like that of ereaders. This secondary screen called Dasung Link can then be used in an ideal way to read, navigate web pages that are not too complex, take notes and use productivity applications.

At first glance it may therefore seem like a smartphone with an e-ink display, but in reality the novelty presented by Dasung is a secondary screen that can be connected to models with an Android operating system or with an iPhone in both wired and wireless mode depending on the version. The diagonal is equal to 6.7 inches with a density of 300 pixels per square inch, more than enough to view photos that are not too pixellated. Naturally, the panel is of the touchscreen type to be able to interact with swipes and enlargements. Basically it takes up what you would see on the screen from the smartphone, which however can remain off like this save on battery. And protect your eyes too, since you spend hours reading

The display appears at minute 9 and 12 seconds

Dasung Link is therefore available for the moment in China, but it is not excluded that it will also arrive in the West. There are three versions: wireless for Android and iPhone or with USB type-C connection for compatible devices. In terms of functionality there is also a Turbo option which increases the refresh rate (lowering the autonomy) to play or view videos. The precise price has not been communicated, but it should be in the range 100-150 euros.
