Rivian probably one of the most discussed electric car manufacturers together with Tesla, and we too have often talked about it in our pages (some examples at this link).
Recently the news has not been entirely positive for RJ Scaringe and his, grappling with production difficulties, which forced him to slow down deliveries and revise annual estimates. However Rivian remains with an eye to the future, and to the possible expansion outside the United Statesrepeatedly referred to as the next step.
After the opening of deliveries in Canada, the company has made its moves to also approach Europe, opening a Tech Center in Belgrade, Serbia.

It might seem an anomalous choice, but the countries of the former Yugoslavia are often under the lens of tech companies, as they are the cradle of so many talents. The inauguration of the new center was held a few days ago, with the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar VučićSerbian Innovation Minister Jelena Begovic, Rivian VP, Talent Acquisition Cindy Nicola and Wassym Bensaid, Senior VP Software Development at Rivian.
In a first stage there will be 200 jobs, and Rivian has confirmed that it has received hundreds of proposals, mostly in the areas of mapping, infotainment, ADAS and IT services. In a second phase there will be another 1,000 hires.

President Vučić then revealed that the project has been in the works for a long time: “We’ve been working on it for at least a year and a half. This arrival is very significant for us. Rivian is the most innovative company in the world when it comes to electric vehicles. We have brought the best of the world to Serbia – Serbia is the only one that has succeeded. Apart from the United States and Canada, they have opened a center only in Serbia. No one else in Europe can boast of this“.
