OPPO Find N2 is official, but it is the Find N2 Flip that you should be interested in

As anticipated in recent weeks, OPPO today announced its two new ones to the world foldable smartphones: OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N2 Flip.

The first is an evolution of the model that we reviewed about a year ago and which never officially arrived on our continent. The design remains practically unchanged, but in addition to the necessary hardware adjustments (such as the transition to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor) the real differences are in the build quality. OPPO Find N2 it is in fact equipped with a new carbon fiber skeleton, more robust and thinner and which guarantees the smartphone up to 400,000 folds without having to compromise its hinge system in any way.

The vegan black leather version of Find N2 weighs 233 grams, effectively making it the lightest “book” foldable smartphone on the market, even lighter than some “classic” smartphones. The opening hinge, called Flexion Hinge, was then totally redesigned: it is now made up of 100 components, 36 fewer than the previous generation.

This new hinge (in carbon fiber and high-strength alloy) is not only more robust but has reduced the visibility of the fold inside the display by 67%, according to the company’s statements. When open, the smartphone has no visible cracks, thus making the experience more satisfying. We can’t wait to see for ourselves.

The internal display is from 7.1 inches, can reach 1,550 nits of maximum brightness and is protected by a new film that reduces reflections when the smartphone is used outdoors. The outer screen is once again very large at 5.54 inches and retains its characteristic squarer format, as opposed to what was seen on Samsung’s popular solution. This screen has a peak brightness of 1,350 nits. Both have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, but only the internal one has the ability to gradually scale between all levels between 1 and 120 Hz.

OPPO Find N2 is equipped with a Hasselblad triple camera and the MariSilicon X image processor.

The main camera is one 50 megapixel ƒ/1.8 IMX980coupled with a 48 megapixel ƒ/2.2 wide angle and macro and a 32 megapixel 2x ƒ/2.2 zoom.

Some other technical specifications:

  • 4,520mAh battery
  • Recharge at 67W (from 0 to 100% in 42 minutes)
  • 5G connectivity
  • 14.6 mm thick when closed
  • Android 13 with ColorOS 13

If Find N2 is undoubtedly the top of OPPO’s folding family, it is though Find N2 Flip the one that will make your antennas stand up. Only this between the two smartphones presented today in fact will officially arrive in Europe. We speak of “most European countries”, but considering the attention paid to Italy to date we have no reason to think that Italy is not included among them.

We do not have a particularly complete technical sheet for Find N2 Flip but we can understand a lot from the images that have been provided to us. It is a “vertical” foldable smartphone, with a large and eye-catching front display, which is also vertical, when closed. It is a panel from 3.26 inches.

We can’t tell if the vertical format is more successful than the horizontal one: we’ll have to try it to do it. It is abundantly larger than that of RAZR 2022, which to date was the reference smartphone from this point of view.

In addition, it wants to solve the other major criticality of folding “clamshell” smartphones: autonomy. It does so with a 4,300mAh battery. An excellent result, considering that that of Z Flip 4 is 3,700 mAh. Added to this is a customized version of the processor Mediatek Dimension 9000+ which should help to contain energy consumption. The company then boasts, as on Find N2, of having created an almost invisible display fold.

We can’t wait to find out if all these promises will be kept in the model that will arrive in Europe in early 2023. The battle for foldable smartphones is slowly getting richer.
