Venus Optics announced the new goal in recent days Laowa for Fujifilm medium format (GFX series). However, this is not the only novelty of the manufacturer and several have been added which concern decidedly particular and useful solutions especially for professional photographers (but not only). In particular we refer to Magic Shift Converter (MSC) which combine the functions of an adapter with those of a Tilt-Shift lens.

This allows those who have a certain type of camera to also use lenses from other manufacturers and, in particular with photographs of buildings or particularly tall structures, to correct vanishing lines without necessarily going through the subsequent editing. A set of features particularly appreciated by professionals (but which could also be useful for advanced amateurs). Here’s the news.

Venus Optics and the latest from Laowa

Starting right from Magic Shift Converter (MSC), Venus Optics announced the arrival of Canon EF to Canon RF, Canon EF to Nikon Z and Nikon F/G to Nikon Z variants. DSLR cameras to also attach optics for mirrorless. Also there are the above options which include Canon EF to Sony E adapter, Nikon G to Sony E adapter and finally Nikon F to Sony E adapter.

According to Venus Optics the Magic Shift Converter it is mainly meant for the ultra-wide-angle lens of Laowa with a focal length of 12 mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 (and which exploits the Zero-D distortion reduction technology). However, this does not exclude the possibility of use with manual lenses that use the Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The shift remains ±10 mm, guaranteeing a good degree of correction. The price is equal to 300 euros (+VAT).

Venus Optics also announced the Laowa-branded 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens is now also available for mount Canon RF thus adding to those for MQT, Fujifilm X, Sony E, Canon EF-M, Leica L and Nikon Z. This solution has a field of vision of 210° allowing you to cover 360° in a maximum of three shots. Furthermore, it is a compact and light optic that can also be used on DJI drones.

The same treatment was reserved for 9mm f2.8 Zero D with the solution for Canon RF which is thus added to those with Fujifilm X, Sony E, Canon EF-M, DJI DL, MQT, L and Nikon Z mounts. Here the angle of view is 113° and thanks to the Zero-D technology it is reduced distortion due to the lens structure itself. Canon RF is also the new mount for the 65mm f/2.8 Ultra Macro Apo 2X APS-C. Users will therefore also be able to choose Canon’s full-frame solution as well as those for Fujifilm X, Sony E, Canon EF-M and Nikon Z.

Finally for the 12-24mm f/5.6 di Laowa now it will be possible to buy this optic with L attack. This means that users will have the option not to use adapters in case they have a camera with that bayonet. In the past it was instead available for Leica M, Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF.
