BMW Motorrad celebrates the centenary with the R nineT 100 Years and R18 100 Years

BMW Motorrad celebrates its first 100 years launching two special models, both in limited editions: R nineT 100 Years and R18 100 Years. Both of these bikes will be made in 1923 units. This is a reference to the birth year of BMW Motorrad. In fact, the first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, was presented in September 1923. The R nineT starts from 23,550 euros and the R18 from 26,170 euros. Let’s get into the details.

For this special edition, the German brand has taken its R nineT customizing it in livery and equipment. More specifically, BMW Motorrad has decided to offer the bike with a livery which combines the black color with chromed surfaces. For example, the tank of the bike features a combination of black with chrome and a white double fillet and is completed by knee pads and the 100 Years badge.

Chrome plating which is also present on the hump of the saddle. The front mudguard is also painted black and is characterized by the double white line. This model also features a two-tone black/oxblood saddle. The R nineT 100 Years is also characterized by a series of accessories such as the fork tubes, the air intake snorkel and some components of the 719 option, all in black.

The equipment of this bike also includes the 719 Classic wheels with black anodized rims, the Option 719 Shadow milled parts package with milled cylinder head covers, engine crankcase covers, seat supports, oil filler cap and the Option 719 Shadow II milled parts package (which includes adjustable handlebar levers and a footpeg system, passenger footpegs, as well as brake fluid expansion tank covers and mirrors attached to the handlebar ends).

There is also a rich set of electronics which includes adaptive cornering lights and the Comfort package with heated grips, cruise control and Driving Modes Pro. On request, it is also possible to equip the motorbike with an anti-theft system. The engine is still the well-known air/oil-cooled 1,170 cc two-cylinder boxer from 80 kW (109 hp) with 116Nm of torque.

The customization of this model concerns the look and equipment. Also in this case the bike adopts a livery which combines the black color with shiny chrome surfaces, as well as the double white piping and the 100 Years badge. We can also find this aesthetic scheme on the rear mudguard. Instead, the front fender is painted black with a white double stripe.

Black characterizes also the engine, transmission housing and rear axle drive. The R 18 100 Years is complemented by numerous chrome parts of the Chrome design option: handlebar fittings, shift and foot brake levers, handlebar clamps, handlebar weights, mirrors, brake pumps, brake calipers, covers crankcase, cylinder head covers and intake manifold gaskets. The seat is upholstered in the two-tone black/oxblood combination.

The standard equipment of this model also includes i Akrapovič chrome rear silencers, the Headlight Pro with adaptive cornering light, reverse gear, cruise control and heated grips. Upon request, this model can also be equipped with an anti-theft alarm system, pillion package, footrests, Hill Start Control and a lockable fuel filler cap.

The heart of this bike is an air/oil-cooled 1,802 cc two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine capable of deliver 67 kW (91 hp) with 158Nm of torque.
