The employees of the Australian Apple Stores they are on a war footing and, through the organization made possible by the local trade unions, they have called a strike until the Cupertino house returns to the discussion table for the renegotiation of the working conditions at the center of the dispute.

According to some union representatives, the 2014 agreement pushed up the wages of Apple Store employees below the legal minimum, which is why a general strike was called with the hope that the company would declare itself ready to negotiate. Looks like today’s strike is the second general strike in the history of Australian retailers and even the first was done just a few months ago (in October) again by Apple Store employees.
Apple has not commented on the matter, but it is likely that it will intervene in the next few hours to try to recover the situation and prevent stores from being closed at such an important time of the year.
