In anticipation of CES 202 the Chinese Lenovo presented nine new monitors in the ThinkVision range aimed at the professional world and general productivity. Monitors fall into three different segments – there’s no shortage of technology mini LEDs and a new one 49-inch ultrawide.
Lenovo ThinkVision mini-LED, the best for graphics professionals
Starting from the mini-LED proposals, Lenovo presented two solutions that almost entirely share the technical data sheet, differing in the size of the panel: P27pcs-30 and P32pcs-30. As can easily be deduced from the name, the former is a 27 inches while the second one 31.5 inches.
Both offer the same technology with 1,152 independent lighting zones which guarantee optimal contrast for faithful color reproduction and deep blacks when the image calls for it. Both monitors, in fact, support the technologies HDR10 and HLC extension as well as being certified HDR1000 with a peak brightness of 1200 nits.
Both enjoy the software Lenovo ThinkColor which allows you to calibrate colors directly from the operating system through a “point and click” interface. They even feature gods brightness sensors and human detection which allow the screen to dim when the user leaves the workstation and automatically adjust the brightness based on the ambient light.
Since these are monitors designed for professionals, Lenovo has not skimped on connectivity by equipping both monitors with a USB hub with three Type-C and four Type-A ports. These, thanks to the protocol Thunderboltoffer up to 40 Gbps bandwidth which allows you to connect two additional monitors directly to the primary one and offer a up to 140W. Pricing and availability will be communicated later by Lenovo.
ThinkVision VoIP for remote work and study
The range ThinkVision VoIP, on the other hand, is aimed at professionals and students looking for an accessible solution to carry out their activities remotely. In this case there are three options: T27hv-30, T24mv-30 and T24v-30. The latter represents a traditional solution with a panel 24 inch FHD and upstream port USB-Bthe other two offer a rich feature set.
Both with one panel QHD IPShave the new webcam with 5 MP infrared sensor and integrated privacy shutter. This, along with two microphones with noise cancellation and dual 5W speakersallows you to get a great video calling experience without the need for additional hardware.
As for the mini-LED solutions, these models also have the brightness sensor and human detection with the same functionality as the previous ones. Absolute novelty of the range, however, is the key dedicated to Microsoft Teams: this allows you to manage calls with a simple touch, while the volume and microphone mute are done via the front screen keys.
Other smart features include a intelligent traffic light for calls, a “sitting” reminder which warns the user of excessive time spent in front of the screen, and a warning in case the distance between eyes and monitor is insufficient. These are the first monitors, in fact, to obtain the certification Eyesafe 2.0.
The T27hv-30, T24mv-30 and T24v-30 proposals will be available from May 2023 at the price respectively of 359, 279 and 199 euros to which VAT will be added.
ThinkVision P32p-30 and P49w-30 monitors: Higher quality images
The ThinkVision P32p-30 and P49w-30 they are very different proposals, but both designed for important workloads. The first, with a panel from 31.5 inches and a 4K resolutionis aimed at image professionals who need the greatest possible detail combined with the highest chromatic fidelity.
The P32p-30 offers a panel IPS and multiple connection options, including one with the module ThinkVision VoIP Stack10 and there are also two Thunderbolt 4 ports. The monitor will be available from April 2023 at a price of 619 euros + VAT.
The P49w-30on the other hand, represents an ideal solution for “knowledge workers” who tend to use two or more PCs at the same time. This is a 49-inch ultrawide panoramic panel 32:9 which is equivalent to two QHD monitors with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
In this case, the monitor offers a panel IPS Black with a contrast ratio of 2,000:1. However, it is the connectivity that impresses thanks to the presence of ben 13 doors including a Thunderbolt 4 with capabilities of power delivery up to 100W to which is added a second USB-C for charging mobile devices at 15W.
The P49w-30 is capable of power two additional monitors both 49-inch dual-QHD. There is no shortage of options like eKVM and TrueSplit which allow you to connect different devices and use a single screen as a multi-monitor setup. Present i two 5W speakers and modular camera support ThinkVision MC60. Price and availability will be announced later by the manufacturer.
Lenovo L27i-40 and L24m-40 monitors: affordable and functional
Finally, the L series monitors represent an ideal choice for those looking for the best quality/price ratio. The L27i-40 and L24m-40 offer a screen IPS with space coverage 99% sRGB and an extremely slim, nearly borderless design on three sides.
Both proposals have a particular base in which it is possible to store small objects such as pens or USB sticks to be accessed on the fly. In the case of the 27 inch there is also one slot in which to house the smartphone.
As per tradition, also in this case there is a USB hub equipped with a Type-C port for mobile devices. Present integrated speakers (2 x 3 W) and webcam support Lenovo LC50 Monitor. Both are certified Eyesafe Display Requirements 2.0 to protect your eyesight even during prolonged use sessions. Availability and price will be communicated later.
