Probably there was no need to create hype among those who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the second season de The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Prime Video, however Global TV Amazon Studio head Vernon Sanders is anticipating that the new upcoming episodes will be full of epic sequences and unforgettable battles.

He stated this during an interview with Deadline, in which Sanders states that Season 2 will include bigger battles compared to those seen in Season 1, with some iconic moments that those who have read the books should know well (but did not unbutton too much on this).

He added that the second season will have a faster paceso long as “the stake is established” and whywe will see some characters in some lands go to war“. This is not surprising, considering that in this and many other TV productions, usually the first season is introductory and only then does the story and action get into the heart of the story.

Even the showrunner, Patrick McKay, had somewhat anticipated similar things when he formalized the start of filming in the UK, saying that the new season would be better on all levels. Not only that, even the detractors will be partially satisfied, since the co-showrunner, JD Payne, has revealed that the new episodes will be developed taking the criticisms of the public to heart and, although there will be no extreme revolutions in the plans, the opinion of the users led to decisions and changes.

To achieve the desired result, we already know that new important directors have been called upon, including Sanaa Hamri (The Witcher, Rectify and Shameless) and Louise Hooper (The Wheel of Time). Charlotte Brändström, who directed Season 1 Episode 6, “Udûn” and Episode 7, “The Eye,” will also return. Finally, the second season will introduce a number of new actors for recurring roles, including Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo and Calam Lynch.

Unfortunately as we have already anticipated, the second season will very unlikely arrive in 2023 given the current phase of production and, as always anticipated by Sanders in another interview, 2024 is the safest year. Of course, if some of you have not yet seen the new fantasy series, the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
