i continue disservices related to access to e-mail of Virgil and Liberand even today it seems that users who have email accounts at the two sites are experiencing enormous difficulties in accessing the service.
It all started yesterday, when the reports also appeared on Down detector – the portal that also in other cases gives us the measure of the extent of the problems – have substantially certified the impossibility for many people to be able to consult their e-mail.
As can also be seen from the graphs that we report below, the reports concerned a good part of yesterday, with a clear drop in the second part of the day, however they surging again as of this morninga clear sign of how the problem affecting Virgil and Libero is far from over.
At the heart of the disservice there seem to be some problems related to the ItaliaOnLine infrastructure, the Virgilio and Libero service provider that assures users about the causes of this malfunction. ItaliaOnLine, in fact, completely excludes the possibility of having been the victim of a hacker attackattributing the fault to the disservice to a internal problem. This is undoubtedly very reassuring news for the owners of one of the over 9 million mailboxes associated with the two sites.
Both Libero and Virgilio have warned their respective users of the ongoing problems; as soon as you try to access the email services of the two portals, you are greeted by a warning page which confirms the existence of the disruption and that this is already being resolved.
As anticipated by the messages, this will not lead to any loss of data or other sensitive information, so the best thing to do is wait for the problem to be resolved and, consequently, for access to the services to be restored.
THE ITALIAONLINE PRESS RELEASE
We receive and publish the official note signed by Diego Rizzi, Chief Technology Officer of Italiaonline:
Our words go primarily to the users of Libero Mail and Virgilio Mail, who have opened their e-mail boxes with us: we are aware of the inconvenience caused and the disservice. We have been working tirelessly for several hours now to resolve an unexpected and unanticipated infrastructure problem and that it did not depend on systems developed by Italiaonline. We can reassure, as already written on our portals and digital touchpoints, that our users have been in this emergency situation, and will always continue to be, our priority. The current situation it is not dependent on external cyber attacks. As we have had the opportunity to communicate to our users in these hours, in 25 years of faithful service to the Italians, we have never been off-line for so long. We have read all the messages that appeared on social networks and fully understood the inconvenience caused. We know that millions of Italians count on us to communicate and this is giving us the impetus to work day and night to solve the problem as quickly as possible. We can only apologize and thank you for your patience and trust. We expect to have more information in the next few hours. In any case, we will keep our users updated, as we have done so far, through the Italiaonline channels.
