Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, encouraged by the enormous curiosity that the installation of its prototype V236-15.0MW aroused, charged – on its official website – the video story of the construction and installation of the gigantic wind turbine, divided into three episodes.
The offshore turbine, which currently holds the title of most powerful turbine in the worldis located at the Østerild National Testing Centre for large wind turbines, in West Jutland (Denmark) for field testing of its capabilities.
More than a month after its installation, curiosity is still very much, especially about how it was possible to assemble the gigantic parts of the turbineonce delivered to Denmark.
Vestas has recorded several videos about it, assembling them together to realize a real video story on what has been defined “a huge feat of civil engineering”as stated by Christian Gjerlov, product owner of Vestas Power Solutions:
“Installing one of these turbines on land is a huge civil engineering feat. The tower, nacelle and blade were installed with the aid of some of the largest land-based cranes available, and we had to develop lifting processes special to be able to erect this huge turbine”.
