We have often talked about Google’s particular commitment in the context of apps and services for smartphones And Tablet, not just when it comes to Android. Among the most popular services we find Gmail, Google Pay and the Play Store, essential in daily use for millions of users. Today, however, we’re talking about a lesser-known but particularly useful novelty: the app Reading mode.

The Reading Mode app is developed in-house by Google and available for free on the Play Store. Its main objective is to make it easier to read long texts and is aimed at a wide range of users. We have it tried for a few days and now we’ll tell you how it went.
Google’s Reading Mode app is very light and does not require any special permissions for its use. On first launch you will be prompted to enable the shortcut in the Accessibility section of Android.
This is a basic requirement to have the direct and permanent link on any Android screen, right next to the screen.
As you can see from the screenshots you find in the gallery belowone of the main strengths of the app Reading Mode is the graphical interface. In fact, we find lines that are fully consistent with the Material You of Android 13, with full support also for dynamic theme which is chosen based on the system background. We also find the possibility to choose between dark and light theme, while keeping the main tone consistent with the system one and with the background set.
Access to the app, if running, can be done at any time through a simple touch of the link that we find at the edge of the Android interface. Once you log into the app, it will try to automatically recognize the text displayed. In case of successful recognition a very graphical interface will be displayed simplified and devoted to reading: in fact we see the text in white on a dark background.
In the lower bar we find the central button for start playback of voice reading of the text.
On the side we find the buttons for move manually between one period and another of the text being read. Also in the lower bar we find the quick link to customize the font size according to which the text is read. On the left side we find the direct link to the app settings: from this section it will be possible customize the theme and the language of reading.
In terms of functioning, we would say that it is an app extremely neat and therefore does not present any critical issues. We have tested its potential both in language English how much in Italian and we were always satisfied. The vocal reading of the text is natural and it seemed perfect for the sessions walk or for sports activities during which you want to listen to vocal content.
One of the plus points of the Reading Mode app is the ability to run on texts from any app on your smartphone. So it will be possible not only to use it on the text content present on Web sites but also for those included in specific apps installed and opened on your smartphone. In short, considering its main purpose, it really seems that it lacks nothing.
Google’s Reading Mode app is available, like virtually all BigG apps, for free for all android users. The app does not feature no advertisements and does not include paid subscriptions to unlock additional features. Below you can find the button for the direct download from play store.
