Cradlepoint R2100 Series 5G Ruggedized, the 5G router that mounts on the roof of vehicles

Cradlepointa company that is part of Ericssonhas made available a very special new LTE and 5G router, R2100 Series 5G Ruggerizeddesigned to be mounted on the roof of vehicles so as to guarantee better performance in sectors such as transport, but also for law enforcement and security or, in general, companies and institutions that need fast connectivity on the move.

The router is of type ruggedtherefore resistant to dust, water and extreme temperatures, and can also be mounted inside a cabinet, for example in scenarios of Industrial IoT.

R2100 Series 5G Ruggerized is very easy to mount, since the antenna cables are not required but only the power cable, which can be passed by making a hole on the roof of the car. It can be configured in mode Captive modem, i.e. as an adapter controlled by a Cradlepoint router, as well as acting as an additional Wi-Fi source in captive mode, so as to extend the coverage of applications such as video offload, Wi-Fi for passengers, Computer Aided Dispatch connectivity in railway station. Those who wish can use the R2100 as a simple 5G adapter to be connected to an existing router.

It also supports containers for edge computing features: NetCloud handles container creation, container and workload deployment, and connectivity, simplifying the deployment of edge computing applications.

Management is via NetCloud, which provides a centralized, enterprise-class edge security solution for in-vehicle and IoT connectivity. It includes end-to-end encryption services, threat detection, and defense capabilities to enable secure cloud and Internet access for IoT devices and applications, with or without Wi-Fi. The R2100 can also support NetCloud Exchange services, which offer Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions and 5G-optimized SD-WAN.
