Vitaly Kovalev, Maksim Mikhailov, Valentin Karyagin, Mikhail Iskritskiy, Dmitry Pleshevskiy, Ivan Vakhromeyev and Valery Sedletski: these are the names of the seven criminals associated with the Trickbot gang, accused of fraud, money laundry and development of hacking tools. The Trickbot trojan of the same name was originally designed to capture online banking credentials, but evolved into a vast malware network that affected millions of computers worldwide. The US Treasury Department itself claims that the trojan has targeted hospitals during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, forcing three Minnesota medical facilities to divert ambulances due to the ensuing interruption of telephone and computer networks.
