The Trickbot trojan of the same name was originally designed to capture online banking credentials, but evolved into a vast malware network that affected millions of computers worldwide. The US Treasury Department itself claims that the trojan has targeted hospitals during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, forcing three Minnesota medical facilities to divert ambulances due to the ensuing interruption of telephone and computer networks.
