Audi is leading the development of the restyling of the Q7. A forklift was intercepted on the roads of Northern Europe intent on carrying out the classic winter tests. In this period, manufacturers usually test their new models in the particularly harsh climates of Northern European countries to put the mechanics of their cars to the test.
The forklift protagonist of new spy photos features limited camouflage in areas where the automaker will introduce major design innovations. Since this is a restyling, no major changes are expected but only a series of aesthetic interventions to refresh the look of the car and allow the Q7 to continue to be competitive in the increasingly crowded SUV segment.
So they will come new front lights, some grille changes and a redesigned front bumper. Retouches should also be introduced at the level of the side skirts and rear lights with the introduction of new graphics. Behind, the bumper should also undergo some slight changes. Judging by the looks of the car and the shapes of the tailpipes, it shouldn’t be the sportier SQ7.
The spy photos do not show the interiors but only a few tweaks should arrive including a infotainment system update. Furthermore, as often happens with restyling, Audi could introduce new body colors, alloy wheels with a new design and new interior upholstery.
It will be interesting to find out if the manufacturer has decided to review the range of engines for the restyling of the Q7 or if it will confirm the current engines. Surely, there will be Plug-in versions.
It is worth mentioning that for the current generation of Q7 it will be the second restyling. This model, in fact, had been launched in 2015 and in 2019 had received a first update. Usually, a new generation should arrive at this point. However, Audi is pursuing an ambitious electrification plan. Therefore, for the house of the 4 rings it could make much more sense to continue updating the current Q7 while waiting to propose an electric alternative. It could, however, also be a hint that there won’t be a new generation of the Q7. However, there will be a way to find out over the next few months as the time for the debut of the new restyling approaches.
