Some important innovations are therefore arriving which aim to guarantee the security of European users’ data, starting with the creation of another two data centers – for a total of three – on the territory of the Union, in order to manage on site all information related to people using TikTok from Europe. This will allow TikTok to better adapt to the directives of the Digital Services Act which will become binding from next September 2023. The social network, in fact, will migrate European user data to Irish data centers throughout 2023 and it is estimated that operations will continue also in 2024.

In addition to explaining how the platform intends to adapt to European regulations, Waterworth also cited positive examples of how TikTok has helped create value and opportunities in real scenarios.
