Samsung is known not only for the undoubted quality of hers devices, but also for the stuffing of functions its proprietary interface One UI.
There are modules Good Lockthe Routine, The screen lock animated, and let’s not forget the possibilities of the camera app, truly full of options and possibilities. Many of these now lean on the now ubiquitous artificial intelligence (AI), which allows us, among other things, to create time lapse videos Of 24 hours… starting with one single photo!
Sounds incredible, right? So let’s see how to use samsung galaxy 24h time lapse in 2023, trying to understand how it works and how it differs from the Hyperlapse feature.

How the 24h time lapse mode works thanks to AI
With the launch of the series Galaxy S21Samsung also presented a number of functions gathered under the denomination Single shot which, thanks to the use ofartificial intelligenceallow you to get the most out of a photo, and allow it to truly capture the moment we seek.
This solution, introduced for the first time with the series Galaxy S20has been extensively expanded and allows the recording of a video of up to 15 seconds from which to generate:
- until 10 best photosthanks to its models powered by deep learning, with aesthetic and angle evaluation engine
- until four video clipswith Fast Forward or Dynamic Slow Motion effect
- mode Portrait to emphasize the subject
- video Highlightswhich chooses the best photo and video moments to combine them into a shareable video
- Scene Relightingthe 24h time-lapse mode we are talking about

Relighting scenes (literally “relighting the scene”) is a solution that, starting from a shot of a panorama, generates a video showing the complete transition of sunlight from morning to evening.
This technology is based on a particular method of machine learning called Adversarial Generative Network (generative adversarial network, GAN), in which two neural networks are trained against each other.
This solution allows one of the two networks to learn how generate new data which have the same distribution as the data used during training.
THE GAN are therefore used for create content (Amazon uses them for its templates music creation), and if some algorithms like GIVE HER have moved from this direction with the CLIP templates, in this case it is really effective.
Basically the model TO THE by Samsung retrieve a photo comprising a large section of the sky and recognizes the various elements contained therein as sky, clouds, water, trees and buildingscropping the sky and naturally restoring the edges.
After that, create “copies” of the image at different times of the day, sunrise, morning, evening, sunset, blue hour And Nightall with their lights and colors, and composes them into a time lapse videos of 12 seconds that recreates the transition of light (image below).

The function was then further enhanced with the series Galaxy S22which debuted alongside the One UI 4.1and now the function 24h time lapse it’s one touch away from you.
Have we intrigued you? Let’s see how it works!
How to use the Samsung Galaxy 24h time lapse
As we anticipated, the function 24 hour time lapse in One UI 4.1 uses artificial intelligence to automatically recognize skies or sunsets in your photos. You do not you have to (and unfortunately you can) do nothing, in the sense that it is the Gallery of your Samsung Galaxy that it offers you when you can create a video of a panorama.
Here’s how to use it.
- Take your phone Samsung Galaxy and unlock it
- Start the app Gallery, the one with the red icon and a stylized white flower
- Scroll through yours photo and look for one in which the sky occupies a significant portion of the frame
- When you have found it, touch it
- If the Gallery AI recognizes a suitable sky, it will show aclock icon bottom right (image below)

- The tool does not always recognize a landscape, and you may have to scroll through some photo, but at some point you will see the icon.
- Touch it and wait a few seconds while the system processes the contents
- Eventually, you will be presented with a video showing thecourse of light during different hours of the day, and Samsung also adds relaxing music, just to enrich the content (you can silence it by tapping the “mute” button in the lower right corner)
- At this point, you can tap the button Save in the bottom toolbar to save the clip to the gallery or use the button Share to share it with whoever you want. If you’re not satisfied, tap the Clear button to remove the time-lapse button from that photo, or tap the arrow in the top left to keep it but don’t save the video
- The function works better if they are not there subjects foreground, and may still show somewhat artificial lighting, especially during the day. To improve the effect, you could do some changes to the image Before to create the video, and see if increasing the brightness, contrast, or other adjustments produces more natural results

Difference between 24h time lapse and Hyperlapse
As you may have guessed by now, the function 24h time lapse Of Samsung does not create a real time lapsebut emulates it by simply changing the color of the skyof the reflexes and gods subjects close-up of a still image, composing the results into a short video.
Hyperlapse instead, it is a feature that allows you to actually create a time lapse videos recording at various frame rates that automatically adjust to the framing. Normally in photography for hyper-lapse means a time-lapse in which the camera moves, but Samsung decided that the term time-lapse for its function was too simplistic and called it Hyperlapse.
However, the concept is the same. To use the feature Hyperlapse do as follows:
- Open the app camera
- Scroll down the screen until you see the tab Other
- Touch it and choose Hyperlapse
- At the top left, tap theclock icon or, on some Samsung models, touch the arrow at the top right and then the icon
- Choose the speed between Auto, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x. This is the frame rate, which is how fast the video will be compared to what you record
- Choose whether to enable the LED flashesthe night mode or the stabilization video
- Touch the key Register to record video (bottom center)
- When you’re done, tap the button Stop (bottom center), which will save the video
- To see a preview, tap the thumbnail bottom right
