Syndicated columnist Froma Harrop is a loyal spear-bearer for the Democratic Party. it was Harrop who publicly suggested Bernie Sanders was a racist (“racist lite”) when he was battling Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic Party presidential primaries. Harrop’s views rarely diverge from those of Democratic Party insiders.
Thus, I was shocked to read Harrops scathing criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris in a recent op-ed essay. Harris, Harrop wrote, “has a record of problematic conduct” and gaffes “and does not understand that California swagger married to identity politics is not universally loved by American voters.”
Harrop claimed to be mystified by Biden’s choice of Harris as vice president. “Why Biden made him his running mate, to this day, floor me.”
Harrop even goes so far as to challenge Harris’ status as a member of an oppressed minority. “Harris”[s] The mother was a medical researcher from India and her father was a Jamaican-born economics professor at Stanford,” Harrop said. “She was hardly a victim of Jim Crow.” Ouch!
In my mind, Kamala Harris’s blazing denunciation of Froma Harrop is a clear sign that the Democrats are dumping Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential race. I certainly hope so.
Perhaps President Biden could find a quieter post to remove Kamala from the national stage. She would make a great American ambassador to Chad.
