In Finance it is said that higher the risk, higher the return. that is if you are willing to take more you can get more return as a compensation of higher risk. The safest asset with virtually zero risk is government securities whose returns are called risk free return(rf). since this is safe it is very low around 1.5 to 2 %, but when we start taking more risk we get higher return due to the risk premium. i.e.
Return = risk free return + risk premium.
because saving account has slightly more risk than G-sec, it has slightly higher return somewhere from 2 to 3%. then comes FD with some risk and some return around 4 to 7% then comes bond with average return between 6 to 9% then comes mutual fund which can give from 8% to 15% and some can even give 12% to 25%. then comes property with 15% to 30%. then comes stocks with highest risk and highest possible returns.
So the point is if you want 10 to 15% there can’t be any safe investment you will have to bear some kind of risk. there are some apps which promises you safe returns like 12% club but those apps also have some risk.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get good return with less risk. In my opinion if you want 10-15% with least possible risk then you can go for index funds or ETFs this way you can avoid much of the risk the only risk you will be exposed to is market and economy so as economy grows market will perform well and so will your investments you won’t need to worry about industry or company or anything else.
