Geraldo Rivera has announced that he has quit his job at Fox News after a 23 year career with the network.

Rivera Quits Fox

Rivera announced this on Twitter alongside a video of him out on a boat.

“Bumpy day on the North Atlantic. Anyway, I got fired from @TheFive so I quit Fox,” Rivera wrote. “After 23 years tomorrow Fox and Friends could be my last appearance on the network. Thanks for the memories.”

In the video, Rivera told his fans, “I’m not going to be on ‘The Five’” this week because he’s “been fired” from the program.

“And, as a result of that, I’ve quit Fox,” he concluded. “So, I’ll have more to say about that on ‘Fox & Friends’ tomorrow morning. Thank you.”

Rivera later told Daily Beast that his video “sums it up,” adding that he’s “not mad at anybody” and is “looking forward to the next adventure.”

“It has been a rocky ride but it has also been an exhilarating adventure that spanned quite a few years,” he told The Associated Press. “I hope it’s not my last adventure.”

A Fox spokesperson has since told Daily Mail, “We reached an amicable conclusion with Geraldo over the past few weeks and look forward to celebrating him tomorrow on Fox & Friends which will be his last appearance on the network.”

‘I Am Leaving Fox’

Rivera further opened up about his decision to quit while appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Friday morning.

“I am leaving Fox,” Rivera said, according to Yahoo News. “I was fired from ‘The Five’ so then I said, ‘Well, I might as well resign totally,’ and so I quit and today is my last day. I want to leave, though, not thinking about those things. I want to leave thinking about how wonderful everyone has been to me over the last 23 years.”

A video montage was then played honoring Rivera’s time on Fox News.

“I am honored, I love Fox, I love the people at Fox, I always will,” Rivera said afterwards. “I’ll never let anyone separate us, but I am beyond grateful for this. This is so deeply affecting, I love you for it. Thank you.”

“I was treated as a family member here,” he added. “We became family.”

Fox News Hosts Praise Rivera

Fox News hosts were quick to gush over Rivera after learning of his departure.

“Congrats on that amazing career, very few people achieve one-name status, you’ve done it,” Pete Hegseth said, with Bret Baier adding, “From the times you were on the frontline in Afghanistan, to some of those handoffs from ‘The Five,’ and always seeing pictures of your family, I wish you the best. Stay in touch, I’ll see you down the road.”

“Geraldo, you ferocious animal, I love you,” said Jesse Watters. Sean Hannity chimed in to add, “You have been one of the greatest broadcasters of all time. You and I will forever be friends, and brothers. I love you.”

Rivera is set to celebrate his 80th birthday on the Fourth of July. He was long seen as a controversial figure at Fox News, so his departure will come as good news to many fans of the network.

It remains to be seen what “adventure” Rivera will go on next.
