Amazfit launched, on the occasion of IFA 2022 in Berlin, i new fourth generation GTR and GTS smartwatches. They implement a circular polarization GPS technology that allows for high-precision positioning, improved sports functions compared to their predecessors and AMOLED HD displays.

As usual for the two smarttwatch families, the purpose of the new products is to inspire an active lifestyle. For this purpose they are equipped with over 150 sports modes and advanced fitness functions, which allow you to keep track of the data of each type of activity carried out. The new series automatically recognizes eight sports modes and integrates the new modes Track Run And Golf Swing. All training data can be synced with the Strava and adidas Running apps.
Even in the gym the new Amazfit can be useful, recognizing 15 strength exercises (which will rise to 25 after a software update promised by the manufacturer) that allow the watch to automatically count the reps, sets and rest time of the user. You can also create custom interval training templates for 10 different sports directly on the watch display, while the proprietary PeakBeats algorithm can provide performance data, such as VO₂ Max, at the end of any workout.
The devices GTR 4 And GTS 4 they are the first smartwatches in the sector to include the technology of the dual band GPS antenna with circular polarization, which guarantees – according to the manufacturer – a greater power of the positioning signal even in environments typically difficult to locate. The new technology supports five satellite systems (which will become six with a software update) and allows you to follow your movements in real time. The watches will also support importing a route file from the Zepp app, which can be viewed in real time directly on the watch.

The new watches also implement a new sensor BioTracker 4.0 PPG, also proprietary, capable of collecting 33% more data than the previous generation. The hardware is paired with a new heart rate detection algorithm, which “greatly” reduces the detection of signal interference caused by arm movement. Heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and stress levels can be monitored 24/7, and the three metrics can be measured in 45 seconds with a single touch, through the function One-tap Measuring.

The new smartwatches also offer numerous other health features, including better sleep tracking: users can create a Sleep Schedule based on their sleeping habits and the device will identify sleep and half-sleep times based on this. The autonomy of Amazfit GTR 4 of about 14 days, according to the data transmitted by the manufacturer, while Amazfit GTS 4 should guarantee a battery life on a single charge of “over a full week with typical use”.

Both new models support Alexa for online voice commands, as well as for storing music and self-playing during workouts. There is also the built-in speaker, also useful for transmitting sports mode data in real time, such as heart rate, duration and distance of training and even hydration reminders.
The differences between the two models
Amazfit GTR 4 adopts a sophisticated design that includes a 1.43 “circular display in anti-reflective glass, a metal center frame and a classic” sports car inspired “crown, and is aimed at the user who needs an elegant clock in the office, with design classic and with many smart features. The user can choose more than 200 watch faces with always-on design, including over 30 animated and four new interactive watch faces. This model is offered by Amazfit in three colors, including Superspeed Black, Vintage Brown Leather And Racetrack Gray.

Amazfit GTS 4 instead uses a thin and light structure of 9.9mm and 27g, with an aluminum alloy center frame and a navigation crown reminiscent of the colors of gems. Availability and prices of the new Amazfit smartwatches
Amazfit GTR 4 And GTS 4 will be launched globally with a price starting from 199.99 euros. They will arrive on 2 September in the United States, while in the first European countries the launch is scheduled for 12 September. In Italy it will arrive later, in September or at the latest in October 2022.
Amazfit GTS 4 Mini it is launched instead starting from 99.99 euro and already available in Germany, while it will soon be available in other countries and regions.
