Since we talk about the internet, the new trend, however, does not go to everyone’s liking. On TikTok, for example, there are users who make fun of adult fans of Bluey arguing they would be willing to forcefully contend soft toys to children, while others fear the fandom coming ruined by adults who make content inspired by the series not suitable for children. “Fandoms have a tendency to take things to extremes“comments Julia Sotto, an Argentinian fan of Bluey who is 26 years old and works as an interpreter and presenter.
“I know from firsthand experience: I’ve been part of very toxic fandoms“, adds Sotto, according to which, however, the fans of Bluey they can and must ignore the bad guys: This makes their content less likely to reach children they might harm.
Why then does Sotto – an adult woman without children – like the series so much? As was the case with Rose, the 26-year-old also came across for the first time Bluey on TikTok, marveling at how the cartoon made her emotional: “From a great example of life about what is good and evil“, she says. In one of her favorite episodes, Bluey befriends a French-Canadian puppy named Jean-Luc at a campsite, but fails to say goodbye before leaving: “Bluey realizes he has lost a friend.
