BMW is pursuing the development of the new generation of the 5 Series, a very important model for the German car manufacturer and which will also be offered in a 100% electric version which will be called BMW i5. A new BMW 5 Series forklift was again intercepted on the road during a test session. It is not clear exactly which version it is, but the interesting aspect is that the front has a lower level of camouflage than what has been seen in the past. spy photos. Therefore, it is possible to better observe the innovations that the manufacturer will introduce.
EVOLUTION DESIGN
The new generation of the 5 Series looks like it will have a design that evolves from the current one. There shouldn’t be any disruption. The double kidney, in particular, even if it will have a more marked horizontal development, it will not grow much in size. At the level of the front they can be seen headlights with a slim design and not on two levels as we have recently seen on the new BMW 7 Series.
From what you can guess by looking at the rear of the car, there will be new headlights and a different bumper design. The new spy photos, unfortunately, do not allow you to take a look at the interior. However, past images had made it possible to discover that the new German sedan will be able to count on a dashboard dominated by a large panel inside which we will find the instrumentation displays and that of the infotainment system characterized by the use of the iDrive 8 platform.
Speaking of engines, the new generation of the BMW 5 Series will continue to be offered with petrol and diesel units. There will obviously be also Plug-in versions. As mentioned at the beginning, there will also be a 100% electric version which should be offered with several options for the powertrain.
There will also be the sportier M5 version. Speaking of this model, we already know that it will adopt a Plug-in hybrid powertrain strictly derived from the one chosen for the XM SUV. The debut of the new generation of the 5 Series would be expected at the beginning of 2023. Surely in the next few months more precise information will arrive on the presentation of this new car of the German brand.
