Bombay High Court did 16 to 12% Maratha reservation, said – more quota is not right

Bombay High Court has dismissed the petition filed against Maratha reservation. But the High Court has also said that 16 percent reservation is unfair. With this, the High Court has put its stamp on the decision of the Maharashtra government. In this petition, the constitutionality of the provision of 16 percent to Marathas in the state was challenged. The High Court has also said to bring 16 percent reservation from 12 to 13 percent. According to the court, work should be done on the basis of the recommendations of the State Backward Classes Commission (SEBC).

Bill was passed in November 2018
The bill to give 16 percent reservation to the Maratha community in Maharashtra was passed in November last year. Maratha reservation bill was passed unanimously by both the houses of the state. There is a provision to give this reservation to the Maratha community under SEBC.
