A few months ago we showed you the range with which the Chinese BYD intended to enter the European market. In the meantime the thing has materialized, and BYD is now a brand also present in the Old Continent, but for now only with three fairly expensive models.

At home, however, the brand is increasingly popular, and offers many solutions even at the most affordable price, so much so that in 2023 it should be able to overtake Tesla by the number of electric cars sold in the 12 months.

BYD Seagull

One of the cars that will allow this overtaking is the BYD Seagulla city car, not even too compact in reality, with its 4.14 meters in length and 2,600 mm wheelbase, aimed at those customers who are not looking for a supercar, but want a car for daily commutewith the right autonomy, and a adequate price.

According to documents leaked by the Chinese Ministry, the Seagull has a 30 kWh batteryfar more than enough for the city, and a 75 HP electric motorwhich won’t make it lightning fast, but quite snappy, also thanks to the instant torque.

The interiors are quite basic, even if with a modern look, as revealed by the first spy photos. There is the classic central display, the console with cup holder, space for wireless charging of the smartphone, and a USB socket. The strong point of the Seagull will be the competitive price, which will vary between the equivalent of almost 9,000 euros, up to 15,000 euros. And for months it has been rumored that the model could also arrive in Europe, for the assault on a segment for which there is always great demand, but which is still rather uncovered, with the exception of only the Dacia Spring and Renault Twingo E-Tech. Sales will start in China in April, and during 2023 we will probably know more about its European future.
