Raipur: Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (central university) vice chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal has been nominated to represent Indian Universities in the Court and Council of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore from the Western Region for four years, 2022 to 2025. Professor Chakrawal secured the second highest number of votes as a nominee from the western region.
Dr Pankaj Mittal, general secretary, Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has informed through a letter that as per Chapter three of the Memorandum of Association and by-laws of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), AIU had decided to nominate four representatives from Indian universities.
In the process done one from each of the four regions are included for the Court and two representatives are for the Council of the IISc, i.e. two out of four representatives are in the Court as well for a duration of four years, 2022 to 2025.
Based on the aforesaid election process and its results, Professor Navin Sheth, vice chancellor, Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad was nominated from Western Region to represent the universities on the Court and Council of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The tenure of Professor Sheth completed as vice chancellor of Gujarat Technological University on December 31,. Professor Chakrawal has been nominated after the end of the tenure of Professor Sheth.
