Citroen C3 Aircross, the next generation will also be electric

The current generation of the Citroen C3 Aircross was launched in 2017. The French brand is therefore already working on the next generation which will also be proposed in one 100% electric version. Talking to Autocar, Laurent Barriahead of marketing and communication of the car manufacturer, confirmed that the future C3 Aircross, as well as in the endothermic versions, will also be offered for the first time in a battery variant.

The French brand executive added that the new C3 Aircross will be the first model to feature the new Citroen logo unveiled towards the end of 2022. This is an interesting detail that could lead one to think that the new car could already be presented by the end of 2022. of 2023, with the start of commercialization in 2024.

For the French brand, the C3 Aircross is an important model given the good commercial success it has achieved. Although today the details of this new car are still scarce, Citroen is expected to use the CMP platform which allows you to create both endothermic and electric cars.

Strictly speaking of the electric model, the automaker could use the 100 kW motor powertrain or the newer 115 kW one that the Stellantis Group has started using on its latest electric models. Certainly, more information will arrive on the engines of the new C3 Aircross over the next few months, as the development of the new car progresses.

On the design front, for the moment there are only some spy photos which show the upcoming C3 Aicross still heavily disguised. From what little can be observed, the new model should have slightly larger dimensions than the C3 Aircross on the market today. Laurent Barria, on the new generation of this car had also said that Citroen would have taken inspiration from the Citroen Oli concept car for some design details.

There are no images of the interior but a latest generation infotainment system will surely arrive. Furthermore, given the plans of the French brand, there will also be a greater use of sustainable materials. All that remains, therefore, is to wait for further information on the debut of this new model.
