It was inaugurated today, in presence in Turin, the first day of the Cybersecurity National Lab Training Camps: an initiative aimed at young boys and girls of secondary schools who have passed the first admission stage of OliCyber, the National Cyber Security Olympiad. The gathering, the first of three that will take place between January and February throughout Italy, is the great novelty of the third edition of OliCyber, which intends to offer 360 young people the opportunity to join a special training course in view of the territorial selections that will determine who can compete in the Olympics proper, the final of which will be held on May 27.
The camps (two in Turin and one in Salerno) are organized in collaboration with the Serics Foundation and boast the special patronage of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data and the National Cybersecurity Agency (Acn). The managers and experts of the National Cybersecurity Agency, coming from the areas specialized in threat intelligence and incident management of the Csirt Italia (Computer Security Incident Response Team) will actively take part in the training of the students, alongside the members of TeamItaly, the national of cyberdefenders, and the winners of the national competitions of CyberChallenge.IT, the national cybersecurity training program considered an excellence at European level.
Each camp will take place over 6 days, from Monday to Saturday and includes 40 hours of training valid as Pcto (Paths for Soft Skills and Orientation), during which students will have the opportunity to deal with simulations and specific training in the field of information security, thus perfecting their attack and cyber defense.
Inaugurated in 2021, OliCyber is not just a competition aimed at the brightest IT talents in the 14-19 age group, but a real advanced training opportunities in the field of cybersecurity, the only one in Italy aimed at very young boys and girls. Memberships for the 2023 edition were more than 4,000, with significant growth among registered girls (+296% from the previous year) and a homogeneous distribution between northern and southern Italy.

OliCyber is part – together with CyberTrials and CyberChallenge.IT (whose registrations are still open until 2 February – of Big Game: the Cybersecurity training chain of the Laboratory, in collaboration with the SERICS Foundation, which is part of the Implementation Plan of the National Cybersecurity Strategy (2022-2026). But CyberHighSchools is also part of the great game: a network of schools and teachers in which not only students, but also professors and professors have access to advanced and refresher courses.
