Dazn confirms the activation of automatic refunds for users who, due to technical problems, have not been able to see some matches of the first day of the Serie A football championship, on which the platform has the exclusive, Sunday 14 August. At the conclusion of the meeting with the Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Authority for Communications (Agcom) and the Lega Serie A, Dazn confirmed the compensation that will be activated directly from the platform, “without the user having to provide any documentation or request“. Dazn will only refund those who have experienced problems “during the time window of the accident“.
On Monday 15 August, the Communications Authority (Agcom) announced that it had “urgently asked Dazn for clarification on what happened and on how the company is working to avoid the repetition of inefficiencies on the next day“, Also specifying that he had requested the platform simplified procedures for claim compensation.
In a note Dazn explains that “the extent of the indemnity, in compliance with the provisions of the Agcom resolution will be equal to 25% of the monthly fee paid by each customer according to their subscription profile and, precisely because of the extraordinary nature of the event, of an additional 25%, equal to the free use of a championship day“. There will be no single way to receive the refund, which will be different “depending on the type of customer (direct, indirect, gift card)”Explains Dazn.
In the meeting between the parties, one week after the inefficiencies that occurred during the four games that were played on Sunday 14 August, two at 18.30 and two at 20.45, Dazn explained “the extraordinary and unpredictable nature of the event which took place on Saturday and Sunday“. Following thousands of reports of technical problems during the first time slot matches, Dazn also provided alternative links on their social pages for the evening matches, which however would also have caused problems for several users. The problem would be related to authentication procedures. It is therefore a question closely linked to the application which, in fact, he would have encountered problems also in other European countries.
Compensation modalities
The company explains that “the compensation will therefore take place by crediting the amount according to the payment methods chosen by each customer or by issuing vouchers. The refund procedure will be activated starting from next Tuesday (23 August, ed) and, gradually, it will be completed in the next ones two weeks. Each interested user will receive to the email address associated with your subscription, communication with confirmation of the refund“.
