Dodge is moving faster towards an increasingly electric future and it does so by presenting the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, a concept that revolutionizes the perception of what a battery electric vehicle (BEV) can be. The unveiling took place recently during the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, on the third day of the Dodge Speed Week series of events which featured announcements and product presentations from the famous US brand.
Moving on to the most interesting details, on board we find a new propulsion system that offers superior performance to the famous SRT Hellcat engine of the Dodge brand, which from a unique BEV exhaust sound in the industry. The 800V Banshee propulsion system powers the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept car and claims its performance loudly, making Dodge’s first electric vehicle faster than a Hellcat in all key performance measures. The standard four-wheel drive system is the key to outperforming the Hellcat while improving capabilities in all weather conditions.
The vehicle’s design blends modern and retro styling well by incorporating clear stylistic elements from the Dodge heritage, but also implementing state-of-the-art aerodynamic solutions. Speaking instead of interior design, everything is designed to create an immersive driver-centered experience through sounds, displays and lighting characteristics that change inside and out at the push of a button.
The heart of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept consists of three patent-pending features, which the US company says will change the rules of the BEV segment:
- R-Wing: A unique streamlined through-body design that fuses this concept with the iconic Dodge Daytona name
- Fratzonic chamber exhaust: the industry’s first BEV exhaust, which can reach 126 dB, making it noisy like that of a Dodge with a Hellcat engine
- eRupt: Multi-speed gearbox, with an electromechanical shifting experience that is purely Dodge.
