The phenomenon of Great Resignation it is also spreading in Italy and many companies are looking for new ways to retain talent. By offering greater flexibility, but also by showing their commitment to environmental sustainability, a theme that is increasingly felt, especially by younger workers.

HPE is not exempt, which has ushered in a new philosophy, Edge-to-Office, which wants to make work “smart, flexible, sustainable“.

HPE renovates its campus in Cernusco to put people first

On its campus in Cernusco sul Naviglio (in the province of Milan), renovated with new spaces and technologies to realize its vision, Edge9 participated in an event during which HPE presented its new philosophy on work, aimed at giving more freedom to employees and respect for the environment. We are not just talking about forms of hybrid work (HPE had activated agile work policies before COVID) but also about initiatives aimed at supporting workers.

Starting from 26 weeks paid to new parents, which are due as much to mothers as to fathers, to arrive at a program for the managerial growth of women, so as to reduce the gender gap which still has a significant weight in Italy (and beyond). To this are added training programs to enhance inclusion, and initiatives aimed at offering more free time, which fall under the umbrella of the program “Work That Fits Your Life “. Among these “Wellness Friday“, one free afternoon a month available to all workers.

The choice of HPE went against the trend compared to other realities, which aimed to move the headquarters to the center of Milan. The multinational instead wanted to keep its headquarters outside the city, renovating and rethinking it. A choice that according to the CEO Claudio Bassoli it will inspire the institutions to invest in the industrial area of Cernusco sul Naviglio, enhancing it, as evidenced by the presence of the town mayor at the ribbon cutting, who officially inaugurated the “regeneration” of the offices. But which also has a symbolic value: among HPE customers there are many SMEs, and the idea of having a headquarters in the territory, not only in the business areas where all the large companies are concentrated, somehow brings it closer to customers. .

In any case, HPE does not want to limit initiatives in support of people to its employees and customers, and organizes together with institutions, schools, universities and research centers initiatives for training, especially aimed at young people, and the dissemination of IT citizenship and both IT and STEM skills.

HPE’s commitment to the environment leverages as-a-Service

Regarding the commitment to the environment, HPE proposes the “Cloud that comes to you“, a strategy that aims to make digital solutions more accessible by exploiting the as-a-Service, which allows companies and public administrations to avoid infrastructure and skills investments, and pay only for the resources used, with a view to more and more widespread as-a-Service model. A modality that, according to HPE, allows to reduce energy consumption by 33% and will give a boost tocircular economygiven that the technologies adopted are reconditionable and recyclable up to 99.5%.

The new course we are presenting today is the natural evolution of our corporate culture and goes far beyond an innovative working model, with a regenerated headquarters and new technological supports.“, has explained Claudio Bassoli, President and CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Italia. “This mode underlines that environmental, social and economic sustainability has always been the fundamental pillar of HPE’s culture, vision and strategy. And it is precisely these environmentally friendly models that the architecture and structure of the building is also inspired by. A project that evolves hand in hand with HPE technology, where every change implemented is systemic and embraces its own distinctive aesthetic, made up of progress and sustainability. It represents renewing the commitment to recognize values such as diversity and inclusion, to invest in talent and skills, to cement the spirit of cohesion between people and to make HPE a place where everyone would like to work. Finally, it means commitment to a model of constant regeneration where synergies, ideas and the future meet, to continue making HPE a global technology leader.“.
