Kurukshetra:
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Ambala unit arrested an executive engineer (XeN) of the construction branch of Kurukshetra University (KU), allegedly for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
An ACB official said the accused XeN has been identified as Pankaj Sharma, who allegedly sought a bribe in lieu of passing bills from a contractor.
An ACB official said, “A complaint was received from a contractor that his bills related to the construction work done at KU were pending and the accused XeN sought Rs 1 lakh as a bribe while he had already taken Rs 3.5 lakh in the past.”
A case under Section 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against accused XeN at ACB Ambala police station on Friday.
