Ford returns to Formula 1 after twenty years of absence: agreement with Red Bull

Ford Returns. This is the slogan that can be seen in these hours on the official instagram page of the Formula 1. The American house has announced his return to the top racing seriesafter decades of absence, and will do so with an important collaboration.

The Blue Oval has indeed tightened an agreement with Red Bull for the supply of engines from 2026, even if in reality it will be a joint development, as it seems from the first statements. The agreement will also involve the satellite team Alpha Tauri.

In 2026 the will come into effect new regulationor, again with hybrid engines, which will gradually lead Formula 1 towards “Net Zero”, also thanks to the use of synthetic fuels. Therefore Ford’s commitment is part of the company policy of research for the reduction of polluting emissions.

Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford Motor Company, said: “Ford’s return to Formula 1 with Red Bull Racing is all about the direction we’re heading in as a company: increasingly electric, software-defined and modern vehicles and experiences. F1 will be an incredibly convenient platform to innovate, share ideas and technologies and engage with tens of millions of new customers“. Despite the entry scheduled for 2026, development work will start already this yearwhile the supply will continue until at least 2030.
