A week ago, the Danish company had delivered the last pieces of the V236-15.0MWcurrently the world’s largest offshore wind turbine, at the Østerild National Testing Centre for large wind turbines, in West Jutland (Denmark) for field testing of its capabilities.

As announced a few hours ago by Vestas itself on your own official site, V236 is starting to produce green energytaking advantage of its gigantic dimensions.
The prototype has successfully produced its first kWh and will now undergo an extensive testing and verification program to ensure its reliability.
Subsequently, once the necessary certifications have been acquired, Vestas will be able to start mass production, bringing the finished product to the global market.

At the moment every single component of the turbine was manufactured in Denmarkin different centers (Lem and Nakskov) and highly specialized, but the company also has a plant in Italy, in Taranto, which will play an important role in the production of the very long bladesscheduled for the second half of 2023.
With a swept area of over 43,000 m2, the V236-15.0 MW is capable of producing around 80 GWh/yearenough to feed 20,000 European households and cut CO2 emissions by 38,000 tons every year.
