Among the most important innovations in terms of privacy, that Google had announced at I / O 2022 in May there is no doubt the possibility of removing your data from search results. On that occasion, the Mountain View company had explained that an ad hoc function would soon be released within the Google app. Well, from the first reports in Europe and the United States it seems that the roll out has finally started.

To find out if the tool is already active on your account, it is enough open the Google app on Android, tap on the profile picture and check if the entry “Results about you (Personal results, or Results about you in Italian: at the moment we have no testimonies about it). If so, clicking on it will take you to a page where it is explained how to request Google to remove search results that contain information such as telephone number, home address or e-mail address.

During a web search, the three dots symbol vertically appears in the upper right corner for each result . With a tap you access a panel where you can select the option “Remove result“. This request will be displayed in the section created ad hoc by Google, from which you can be updated on the removal process. There are three sub-sections: All requests, In progress, Approved.

The removal request may appear to be our unjustifiable right, however the information we ask Google to delete from the network may include other (non-personal) data useful to users and in the public domain. Important note: removing contact information from Google Search does not mean deleting it from the web.
