Gmail (do not miss our in-depth analysis) received a series of updates to make (at least in the intentions of Google) the interface more immediate and modern.
First came the new design for Desktopfinally in style Material Youand then also the version for mobile devices saw some change. In fact, in September the Great G. had finally reduced the size of the lower bar.
This came with the renovation of the Google apps along with the release of the Material You with Android 12 and includes icons associated with app categories Gmail. The problem was that it also integrated the descriptive labelswhich increased its thickness, but the latest update took them away, making it less invasive.
Nonetheless, this always remains one bar which fortunately disappeared while scrolling down to check previous emails or when opening one of them. This behavior is always possible customize through a special button in the settings (which always makes it visible), but this is thedefault option.
Now however it appears that Google be particularly proud of this bar, which will remain visible even after opening one e-mail. To do it to disappear, you will have to scroll down, but going back up this one will reappear, and there is no way to avoid it, as the only option is the default one hides precisely during scrolling.

While this choice can make sense as it allows you to always have an eye on a navigation panel and any e-mail unread, as well as following the new ones to some extent functional choices of Gmailon the other hand it becomes much more invasive, and what bothers is that it is not customizable.
On Android this new interface has been seen in the version 2022.10.02 of Gmail but it is not yet widespread, while it seems already present in iOS.
