There is currently no specific period for demonstrating the new Google enhanced with chatbot capabilities, while the other projects are expected to be announced during the annual I/O event in May. The demo in question will show a new Google capable of giving priority “to real news, guaranteeing security and erasing disinformation”. Developers would be busy speeding up review processes to ensure the technology works fairly and ethically, a big problem of AI emerged in the past years because they were trained with information full of prejudices (the so-called “bias”).
Among other products in the pipeline, Google would a tool for creating and editing images, apparently a sort of competitor to DALL-E, also from OpenAI. There is also talk of an app for testing prototypes of new products, and a tool called MakerSuite that other companies will be able to use to create AI prototypes from the browser. Google is also developing a code-generating tool called PaLM-Coder 2 — similar to Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot — and another tool to help build smartphone apps called Colab + Android Studio.
The tension at Google would be cut into slices, so much so that the US newspaper reports that the two founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, would have returned to put their “hands in the dough” again after slipping away in the past years. The NYT says they reportedly “offered advice” to top executives, approved plans and pitched ideas during a meeting last month with executives to talk about ChatGPT. An involvement that would have been expressly requested by the CEO of Google and Alphabet Sundar Pichai.
