The public arrival of Chat GPT has undoubtedly created alarm in the world of technology. An effect capable, according to analysts, of creating so much havoc that it can be compared to the introduction of the World Wide Web or even Apple’s iPhone in 2007. We have seen that Microsoft jumped headlong into ChatGPT or other Artificial Intelligences of OpenAI having already financed the company several times for a total of at least 10 billion dollars allowing however to have the tools available in the future to integrate Artificial Intelligence in its own software products, improving not only the same but also research with its bing engine which could start to compete with that of Google.
Google runs for cover with its Sparrow
Right in Google, as mentioned, general alarms were triggered and the company even asked for the intervention of the founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, to try to fight the enemy and the concrete danger of ChatGPT. How? Through Google Sparrow, the direct competitor of ChatGPT. Talking about it openly is Demis Hassabis, the head of DeepMind, the Artificial Intelligence company headed by Alphabet or Google and who revealed in an interview that Mountain View has been developing a version of Sparrowsa chatbot capable of doing everything possible today with ChatGPT but in a more conversational way and with the ability to cite sources.
Google’s Sparrow isn’t exactly new that is, a public whitepaper of his has been present since 2020 even if in this case the identity of the chatbot was revealed a little quietly given that the curiosity for conversational Artificial Intelligences had not yet taken off so impressively. ChatGPT and OpenAI, on the other hand, sparked the case with over 1 million users who logged in only in the first week, making ChatGPT one of the most impressive technological innovations ever. Hence the development process of Google Sparrow was accelerated beyond belief.

Google software it will have characteristics similar to those of ChatGPT but there will be some peculiarities that could make it more appealing. In this case, in fact, according to what Hassabis said, Google Sparrow will be absolutely better than that of OpenAI because, with equal questions from the user, there will be more accurate answers. Meanwhile, Sparrow will be able to learn from his mistakes through the famous reinforcement learning (reinforcement learning). In this case the chatbot system learns even without the human explicitly telling it that the answer is right or wrong, because it will be able to interpret other parameters as positive (or negative) reinforcement.
But this that won’t be the only difference between Sparrow and ChatGPT. If the OpenAI chatbot has an updated database up to 2020 and does not have a direct connection to the web, here it is Sparrowsthanks to the presence of Google, will be able to count on frequent updates and indeed it could even come integrated directly into Google Search or even other BigG services. In short, we still do not have details on Sparrow but it is clear that the war of Artificial Intelligences has just been launched.
