Honda and CATL strike deal for 123 GWh of EV battery

Continue there fruitful cooperation between Honda and CATLwhich began in 2020, when the two companies struck an agreement to form a strategic alliance to produce batteries for New Energy Vehicles (NEV), i.e. cars totally electric of the Japanese brand.

This first contact allowed both of them to cooperate in a wide range of areas, including joint development, constant supply, recycling and reuse of batteries.

Now that Honda is about to take another step into the world of electric cars, launching the e-mark:N in China, companies agree in wanting further strengthen their partnership.

From 2024 to 2030, therefore, the automotive brand will purchase 123 GWh of CATL batteriesproduced in the production base located in Yichun, Jiangxi province in east China.

The new zero-emission models will be launched in 2024 and they will come out of two dedicated factories (find some details at this link), currently under construction; both will have an annual capacity of 120,000 units.

In 2021 Honda stated that, in total, there will be eight 100% electric models; of these, three have already been anticipated in October last year, e:N SUV, e:N Coupé and e:N GT.
