Pixel Watch is the first smart watches actually produced by Google. The watch was really appreciated by the public (and by us too) and supports most of the features one might expect from such a device, except one: the automatic fall detection.

This feature, which on other devices like Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch of Samsung has been around for a long time, it never came up Pixel Watchalthough of course Google announced that this was coming by this winter. Even the latest watch update, released the first days of Februarydid not bring fall detection.
Despite this, it seems that we won’t have to wait too long: in the version 1.1 of the Pixel Watch appnecessary to manage the functions of the watch and which has recently exceeded 500,000 downloads, some references to this useful feature and therefore we can get an idea of the general functioning.
During the setup of the application, we will explain in general how the fall detection works: “fall detection works using the motion sensors on your Pixel Watch” will be read in configuration screen. The smartwatch will go through three stages culminating in the actual call for help:
- After detecting a fall, your Pixel Watch will wait 30 seconds (useful to stop all the following procedure in case of false positives) and then it will start to vibrate and play.
- Pixel Watch will wait a few seconds and then automatically take a call for help.
- During the call, the Pixel Watch will play an automatic message, providing emergency services with your location. Obviously, the user will be able to choose to speak directly with the operator.
This feature will come, in a first moment, in Australia, Canada, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan And United States (although we don’t know exactly when).
