HP extension announced the launch of the new servers HPE Alletra 4000, the first storage servers under the Alletra brand, which will replace the one used so far, Apollo. New servers use processors 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable and are designed for data-intensive applications, such as machine learning, medical image archiving, and streaming.
HPE Announces New Alletra 4000 Storage Servers
There are two new models that HPE has launched: theAlletra 4110 and theAlletra 4120. The first (pictured above) is a 1U unit that only supports NVMe SSD units, up to 20 in EDSFF or SFF format, with a bandwidth of up to 315 GB/s (note that we are talking about gigabytes, and not gigabits) thanks to the PCIe 5.0 standard.
The Alletra 4120, on the other hand, is a hybrid 2U server with two drive bay “drawers”, supporting up to 24 LFF (with 4 LFF, 12 EDSFF or 5 FF in the rear tray) or 48 SFF (with 12 EDSFF or 6 SFF on the back) and bandwidth up to 225.6 GB/s using NVMe PCIe 5.0, SAS 24 Gbps or SATA 6 Gbps SSD.
Both systems offer the possibility of expansion via GPU or FPGA to meet the needs of particular applications. Security is guaranteed by a “zero trust” approach that starts with the design and use of AES-256 for data encryption. The HPE Alletra 4000 family also integrates HPE Integrated Lights Out 6, which protects the server and storage and network controller firmware.
HPE Alletra 4000 servers can be purchased traditionally or obtained through HPE GreenLake. Availability is expected in the second quarter of 2023.
