Visakhapatnam: Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapantam conducted the seventh edition of ‘Hridaya’, an annual HR conclave. The event was inaugurated by IIMV dean (admin) Prof MV Anuradha. She spoke about the impending recession, layoffs, and challenges being faced by companies and employees in current times.
Chairperson, career development services and alumni relations, IIM-Vizag, Prof Deepika Gupta, also spoke on this occasion.
L&T Electrical and Automation director and head, Sameer Chaudhary, addressed the attendees and shared his views and suggestions on what to keep in mind while choosing the job. He gave some insights into parent company Schneider Electric and the thriving culture that they promote.
This was followed by a panel discussion circling upon the theme of “planning ahead: working through and out of recession.” The panel was moderated by Yashwant Chauhan (chief human resource manager, GAIL India) and included Varun Reddy Sevva (CHRO, Novtech), Harini Sreenivasan (partner, Semcostyle Institute India LLP), abd Ashish Mittal (group CHRO, Sreenidhi Educational Group).
The discussion focused on some burning topics like how talent acquisition might change in future, and challenges being faced by the talent acquisition professionals. It was also stated that hard skills will be a selector, whereas soft skills might act as a differentiator. Panellists also focused on the need to be creative as several softwares like ChatGPT might take away jobs in future.
