Indiana Jones 5, the director denies a crazy fan theory

In the past few days the trailer of Indiana Jones 5indeed what we will officially know from now on as Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny. Thanks to an advanced digital rejuvenation technique, the story set mainly in the Sixties sees the protagonist played for the last time by Harrison Ford even in earlier moments of his adventurous life, especially while fighting against the Nazis. It is not excluded, as speculated several times by fans in recent months, that this fifth chapter also includes time travel. But the fan theories regarding this new story have gone even further, formulating hypothesis worry about fate of their hero: to deny everything, however, the director and screenwriter has recently arrived James Mangold who tried to calm things down.

Based on meager behind-the-scenes photos, extrapolated details here and there and above all on bogus screenshots circulated on the net, many fans became convinced that this Wheel of fate will end with the total erasure of the Indiana Jones character: through time travel, in fact, Indy would return to the past to erase his presence from the history of the world and thus pass the baton to his goddaughter Helenaplayed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge; Helena would thus appear to have accomplished all the godfather adventures seen in the previous films and this fifth chapter would end precisely with a montage of scenes in which Helena is at the center of Indiana’s previous exploits.

The absurdity of the theory goes hand in hand with i macaroni photomontages that have been circulated online in support of these fantasies. But given the insistence and indignation of some, Mangold himself was forced to intervene to have his say: “Once again. No one will ‘take over’ or replace Indy, or wear his hat nor will he be ‘cancelled’ by any means“, he wrote on Twitter, taking it out on the trolls who would write anything to click: “The difference between the asshole trolls and everyone else is that they try to make money on your emotions about the movie and a culture clash policy. They propose controversial hypotheses just to move clicks”. The possibility that Indiana Jones was eliminated and replaced by a woman – as happened in the past with James Bond – had inflamed the most conservative souls that they had invoked the usual political correctness. It is not yet known what exactly will happen in the plot of Indiana Jones 5 but at least one scenario was scrapped altogether.
