No LTPO display for “standard” iPhone 15s. The OLED LTPO like those of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max they manage to modulate the frequency of update up to 1Hz (image refreshes once per second), so the always-on display has minimal power consumption. With LTPS you can’t get that low which means that the function would consume more than necessaryso if on the standard iPhone 15 there will once again be an LTPS OLED, the always on will continue to remain a prerogative of the Pro variants.
The latest update on the issue of type of display chosen for the iPhone 15 comes from Asia:
It is said that Apple has already signed agreements for the supply of the iPhone 15 series displays, details will be finalized soon and mass production will start. The only confirmation we have is that only the Pro range will have 120Hz LTPO displays.
Apple reaches 120 Hz through the Promotion technology, essentially an algorithm that adjusts the update frequency in real time according to the content displayed, so as to have the maximum possible fluidity each time without wasting resources. And ProMotion is linked to LTPO technology, so this year too anyone who approaches a “basic” iPhone will have to settle for the classic 60 Hz.
In other words, this year, according to the information we currently have, there will be no progress in terms of display specifications or features, net of the Dynamic Island which will retire the notch.
