iPhone 14 was presented just under six months ago, and rumors about the next generation have been raging for some time: the latest in chronological order dates back to a little while ago and concerns the difficulties that BOE is encountering in achieving the quality standards required by Apple ( in this specific case the problem concerns the panel near the Dynamic Island). But the rumors look even further, to the iPhone 16, even up to … iPhones 18.
To clarify, the reference goes to definitive disappearance of notch and Dynamic Islandsupplanted by a much more discreet housing of the Face ID sensors and the front camera below the display. Well, according to the latest information circulating along the supply chain it seems that to have an all-screen iPhone we will have to wait at least until 2026 – iPhone 18, indeed.
FACE ID
However, the discussion must be separated between Face ID (and related sensors) and front camera: times seem to be more ripe for the former than for the latter, at least according to what emerges from the supply chain and from the studies of the most authoritative market analysts. Face ID under the display could already arrive with iPhone 16 – but not before, therefore not this year – e limited to Pro models at first. It would be a choice consistent with the past: think, for example, of the Dynamic Island present only on the Pro and Pro Max variants of the iPhone 14 destined to be extended to non-Pro variants as early as this year.
FRONT CAMERA
Different speech as regards the front camera, which Apple certainly won’t integrate on the iPhone until the shots reach a certain level of quality. Samsung, for example, has integrated it into Galaxy Z Fold 4, with suboptimal results. However, it is a different product that can count on other solutions for taking selfies (for the Galaxy S23, just to give an example, no risk was taken). For an iPhone without any notch, island or hole, we will have to wait a little longer. The Elec assume 2026, in fact.
