Juniper Networks announced an expansion of its switch portfolio for large enterprises with the new series EX4100. The company also announced news regarding the use of AI in the positioning of wireless access points and regarding the extension of Marvis, the virtual assistant based on Mist AI.

Juniper Networks introduces the new EX4100 switches

The new EX4100 switches are designed for large enterprises and integrate with the rest of the Juniper ecosystem thanks to the use of Mist AI, Marvis and Mist Wired Assurancewhich allow you to obtain data on the status of the network and the ability to manage switches directly from the cloud.

EX4100 switches support encryption MACsec AES256telemetry of data flows, the possibility of establishing EVPN-VXLAN (i.e. VPN on Layer 2 or 3) and compatibility with the Power over Ethernet ++ standard (IEEE 802.3bt).

Finally, the use of Mist Wired Assurance Deployment Service makes it possible to control the implementation of switches within a network, both in the case in which an existing one is being updated and in the one in which it is creating a new one, so as to minimize installation time and risks of downtime.

AI for setting up access points and finding problems

One of the problems that must be taken into account when implementing new access points is theirs orientation: to ensure the best possible coverage of spaces, in fact, it is necessary to ensure that the access points are positioned correctly, but it is not always easy to understand. Juniper has therefore launched a new feature of the Mist Dashboard which allows access to guidance information to correct it in case of problems, thus also reducing the time and cost of installing new access points.

Secondly, Marvis, the virtual assistant based on Mist AI technology, is now able to analyze problems from the point of view of client devices: thanks to an application that can be installed on computers with an operating system Windows (an Android version was already available), Marvis can provide an analysis of the problems both from the perspective of the network infrastructure, where he has operated so far, and from that of the devices in the hands of users.

With functionality DHCP failure scopes Network administrators can view the data to understand if the problems with auto-setting IP addresses lie with the DHCP server, a specific VLAN, or the client. The functionality “cable authentication” (“wired authentication”), on the other hand, allows administrators to identify devices and users who are unable to authenticate themselves on wired networks, so as to be able to intervene accordingly.
