At the Auto Show held in Los Angeles last November, Kia and Hyundai unveiled several EV concepts built on the 800V E-GMP platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group, and among them the EV9, an all-electric full-size SUV, stood outof which Kia shared more details during the March Investor Day: the car boasts an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in five seconds, an autonomy equal to about 540 of autonomy and able to recover 100 km in six minutes.

The brand focuses heavily on the EV6 and EV9 models which it considers its flagships and from which it expects to sell up to 807,000 units by 2026, and another 1.2 million by 2030; according to the latest press release, camouflage versions of the EV9 have undergone theirs “final intensive test program”pushing the SUV to its limits, such as hill climbing tests on 4-wheel drive and rough terrain routes, as well as fording in deep water.

The tests, held both at the Namyang research and development center and in outdoor locations, have shown how easy handling and low friction help to maintain road holding without affecting the performance of the car. In addition to this, the SUV brings with it further features that will allow it to create a space in its reference electric segment, such as the all-wheel drive, third row seats and lots of cargo space, although Kia has not revealed the precise capacity.

The debut of the EV9 expected in the first quarter of 2023and it could be the perfect rival for the Rivian R1S considered by some to be one of the best SUVs ever made to date, priced at $ 78,000.
Kia hasn’t shared pricing for its SUV yet but likely wants to keep it less expensive of competition.
