For the Kia XCeed the time has come allow yourself a restyling which introduces some design innovations, especially at the front, and the new GT-line trim that gives the car a more sporty look. Sales of the new model will start in September. For the moment, the complete list for the Italian market has not yet been communicated. In any case, it will start from 27,500 euros. Now let’s see the main innovations of the restyling.
DESIGN AND INTERIORS
No disruption to the design. The spy photos already emerged over time, had allowed us to understand that Kia would introduce just some some refinements to give a “refresh” to the look of the car. Thus, we find new LED headlights, a revised grille and a redesigned bumper. The shape of the air vents also changes. Behind, however, the tweaks are limited to a few small changes to the speaker.
As often happens with restylings, they also come new colors for the bodywork: Lemon Splash, Celadon Spirit Green and Yuca Steel Gray. In addition, Kia has revised the design of the 16 and 18-inch alloy wheels available for this car. As for the interior, the manufacturer has improved the finishes. For the top-of-the-range set-ups there is a 12.3-inch screen for the instrumentation and a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system which on the entry level versions can have a 5 or 8-inch display.
One of the main novelties of the restyling is the arrival of the GT-line trim. The Kia XCeed becomes more sporty thanks to a slightly revised front with new air intakes and a specific grille. We also find rear lights with specific graphics and diffuser and side skirts in body color. This version can also count on specific 18-inch alloy wheels. The mirror caps and roof rails are in high-gloss black. The interior also has some differences. We find, in fact, a steering wheel and sports seats and a new gear knob.
ENGINES AND SAFETY
Kia offers a wide range of engines for the XCeed, even with Plug-in versions. We will know the exact offer for the Italian market only when the manufacturer formalizes the price list of the restyled model. However, the brand, for this model, will make available several petrol units: 1.0 T-GDI 120 HP and 172 Nm with the LPG system and 1.5 T-GDI 160 HP and 253 Nm (Mild Hybrid). We also have a 1.6 CRDi diesel engine with 136 HP and 320 Nm with mild hybrid technology.
Speaking of the PHEV model, the powertrain consists of a 1.6 T-GDI combined with an electric motor capable of delivering a total of 141 hp. Thanks to the 8.9 kWh battery, the Kia XCeed is capable of travel up to 48 km in electric only mode. Standard Mild Hybrid models feature an electronically controlled iMT manual transmission.
The Plug-in model is only offered with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Speaking of safety, the manufacturer has improved the equipment of ADAS systems. We find, for example, the Smart Cruise Control, the Blind – Spot Collision – Avoidance Assist, the Driver Attention Warning Plus and the Rear Cross – Traffic Collision – Avoidance Assist.
