OPINION:
The Department of Justice wants to be able to raid a former president’s home, seize everything, including the former president’s personal documents, and engage in a series of legal and leaked accusations — all just before the midterm elections (“Special master skeptical of Trump’s declassification claims: ‘Can’t have cake and eat it, too,’” Web, Sept. 20). At the same time, it wants to continue its character assassination of Donald Trump without giving Trump access to documents so it can be determined whether the documents had been declassified, were covered by the Presidential Records Act or are Trump’s personal property.
Without hearing motions from both sides on each document, how can the special master make an informed ruling on anything? Absent such motions, the DOJ gets to continue conducting a kangaroo court to influence the 2022 elections.
